I saw Dr Kampers on the recommendation of my psychologist. I came to him very anxious and depressed, and feeling very desperate. I was almost immediately put at ease by Dr Kampers. He instils a great trust very quickly. He is clearly an expert in his field, and I felt confident he would be able to help me. I was given hope that I could be helped. He was extremely patient and listens very carefully. The detail he will recall on subsequent visits is impressive. He explains exactly what he is suggesting and why, how you may be impacted and so on. I like that he takes a very holistic approach to his practice - giving me other dietary and similar advice alongside medicating. I feel safe in his care. I would highly recommend Dr Kampers.

I find Dr Kampers comfortable to be around, genuinely caring in his treatment of my mental health and totally concerned with my well being whilst being treated by him. He is attentive to personal struggles, mental symptoms and pharmacological treatments. He has been complimentary and has been ready to give honest advice when faced with difficulties which has been most appreciated. I have come in leaps and bounds over the past 2 and a bit years.

When I first met Dr Kampers I was at an all time low. Little did my family or I know how unwell I was. On seeing me for the first time, Dr Kampers immediately knew I needed help, diagnosing me with clinical depression. The depression had built up over a year post having my first child and being on maternity leave however it had extended far beyond post natal depression. When I met with Dr Kampers, I had lost my appetite, could not sleep, lost a significant amount of weight and was very unstable. He was calm, collected, patient and compassionate as I accepted I needed help through appropriate in patient care. I was scared and upset. Never did I feel pressured in any decision making and throughout his care which lasted over a year - he made my views and wishes part of his care plan. Dr Kampers’ approach to my care was second to none and he literally saved my life. His extensive knowledge in his field is immediately apparent through every conversation. He spent the time to understand all aspects of my life to help identify what was causing my depression. He took great pleasure in learning about my family - husband and daughter as a way to understand how I was supported and how my illness was settling. His guidance was not limited to my mental health but he used his expertise to help me manage weight gain which was caused by the anti depressants - guiding me on suggested eating as well as providing help on settling back into work as well as thinking to the future namely about how to cope and handle future pregnancies and children. Dr Kampers is second to none. His years of studying, research and industry dedication has made him into a fantastic consultant. I’m truly thankful to have come across Dr Kampers and I would highly recommend him. My family and I are so grateful for Dr Kampers’ help, guidance and support.

I was exceptionaly impressed by my experience of Dr Kampers. I approached him when looking for a turn around in my life. Having spent nearly 20 years struggling with clinicians and psychologists who were over cautious in dealing with my opinionated views and a crushing burden of serious depressive illness I was cynical that I would ever recover. In fact Dr K was far and away the most impressive of the professionals that I had met. He provided me with a real incentive to look at myself as part of the real world (rather than as a client with problems). He did not tell me what to do but showed a direct but very polite approach which made me think about what I could do for myself. After a few days (and without consulting with him) I discontinued the therapy he had recommended. I also decided to cease taking any medication. In our meeting after these decisions he was supportive and made no attempt to undermine my determination. His response in this and subsequent meetings was a substantial element in my complete recovery from a depressive illness that had dogged my life for many years. Without his involvement I would not have recovered. I still have the same personality and experience ups and downs in life. But they are now just the ordinary ups and downs that everyone has. My career has always been very pressured and intellectual; I have many years of assessing the competence of other professionals. This is the base line against which I comment on Dr K. I know many psychiatrists through my work. Wayne Kampers is a superb professional; I never thought I would be free of mental illness. Now I am. His involvement led me to think for myself; so and the therapy which

I would happily, and wholeheartedly, recommend Dr Kampers to anyone seeking help with their mental health. I first met Dr K a year ago, when I had pretty much lost my battle with depression and anxiety and was in the death throws of a complete breakdown. I immediately felt a genuine connection and rapport with Dr K - a complete rarity when you suffer from serious depression. He was frank and honest with me from the start, and he motivated me to work on myself and start getting better. I can honestly say that without his assistance I may very well have been dead before the end of 2017. Instead, I am happy, positive, and healthy, and I’m getting better every single day.

Profile

Earlier in my career as the medical director of a busy GP practice in Canada, I was often frustrated by the limitations of addressing mental health issues in ten-minute consultations. I wanted more time to listen to my patients, hear their stories, ask questions, and understand the context in which their symptoms arose before diagnosis and treatment. And thus began my journey to the UK, and into psychiatry.

I have been practising medicine for over 35 years, and as an Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist for over 25 years.

I am a highly specialised and experienced doctor with a broad range of expertise and clinical skills in General Practice, General Adult and Elderly Care Psychiatry.

I have always had a curious and inquisitive mindset, especially about what I consider to be the blind spots in Western Medicine, specifically:
• Undiagnosed and untreated ADHD
• Medically unexplained symptoms and chronic pain and the inadequate and often myopic approach to these areas of medicine, where patients are most frequently subjected to medical gaslighting.
• Female hormonal mental health issues.
I recognise that precision medicine using genetic testing as a blueprint and platform facilitates the optimal functional medicine approach and that the future of psychiatry is inextricably linked to psychedelics and best combined with psychedelic and integration assisted therapy.

I believe mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing are all equally important, and go hand in hand.

My approach as an Integrative Consultant Psychiatrist focuses on mind-body-spirit optimisation, and I assess individuals as a whole and in context.

I am a mind-body and trauma informed expert clinician, who uses a biopsychosocial and evidence-based approach to chronic primary pain, chronic functional syndromes, and medically unexplained symptoms.

I use a diagnostic hierarchy approach, which implies that certain diagnoses should not be made when others are present. My approach contrasts with the traditional DSM and ICD based approach of making multiple diagnoses at the same time which can lend itself to the problems of comorbidity and polypharmacy.

The core aspect of my approach to clinical psychopharmacology is the importance of recognising and tackling this comorbidity problem, thereby avoiding all diagnoses are created equal approach, which often leads to unnecessary treatments.

My special interests are:
• Chronic Primary Pain (neuroplastic pain) and Mindbody Medicine (Psychophysiologic Disorders)
• Undiagnosed and untreated ADHD and ADD
• Female Hormonal Mental Health
• Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and
• The role of Cannabis Based Medicinal Products in Mental Health.
I am a member of the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association listed in their Directory Practitioner Directory

I am the only UK based Medical Doctor (Physician) and Consultant Psychiatrist skilled in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of these conditions and all associated comorbid mental health conditions.

I am a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the World Institute of Pain and The British Pain Society.

I have recovered from neuroplastic pain myself and developed The Pain Recovery Program

I also have a residential Pain Recovery Program which is based in South Africa near the Kruger National Park
White River Manor Pain Recovery Program

I am a member of Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies and a certified Ketamine Assisted Therapist.

I am the Consultant lead for 2 Intravenous Ketamine Assisted Therapy Clinics in London and also offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy using oral Ketamine Lozenges.

I recognise that MDMA and Psilocybin assisted therapy can help heal psychological disorders and trauma and will incorporate these and all other psychedelics as soon as I can legally prescribe them which will then facilitate evidence based micro dosing.

I am a member of the Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society and the Medicinal Institute of Education and have had expert medical cannabis training specifically for UK doctors.

I am registered with Script Assist which enables independent practitioners to prescribe medical cannabis in their existing clinics and is subjected to Streamlined Clinical Governance Data Lead Formulary and involves Doctor/ Patient Goal Setting.

I am the only Consultant Psychiatrist in the UK that offers any and all of these programs.

I consider myself to be one of the most forward and lateral thinking psychiatrists in the UK and my approach values integrity, perseverance, and curiosity.

I integrate traditional medical and psychiatric approaches and work closely with complementary healthcare practitioners registered with the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council and trauma informed expert coaches, working closely with Trauma Informed Coaches.

Thanks to a progressive career spanning three continents, patients can be assured of an approach that is international in outlook and sensitive to different cultures, expectations, and norms.
